One of our core values at White Fields is “mission”; we seek to be a community of people actively involved in God’s mission of redemption here in Colorado – and to the ends of the Earth.
For years now, White Fields has been partnering with a ministry in Eger, Hungary called Golgota Eger (their website here) – which is the church I planted and pastored before coming to White Fields. This summer we will be sending a team to Eger to do evangelism to Hungarian teenagers at a youth camp and to minister amongst the gypsy community. Pray about coming on that trip!
A few months ago I was contacted by a young man named Johnathan Dabney who told me he felt called by God to move to Eger to serve as a missionary and work with Golgota. Johnathan recently graduated from the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Vajta, Hungary, where he also did an internship after graduation. During his internship, he led two outreach teams from the college to Eger, and got to see Golgota’s ministry and vision and the needs they have. Having heard about White Fields’ partnership with Golgota, Johnathan asked if we would consider supporting him as a missionary to work with them.
After praying about it, our leadership has decided to support Johnathan as he goes to serve in Eger for the next year. We feel this fits well with White Fields’ ongoing involvement in the ministry there. Johnathan will be helping out with their worship and youth ministries as well as helping to organize evangelistic outreaches to the community and facilitate teams like the one from our church this July.
Please pray for Johnathan, Golgota Eger and the people of Hungary!
