Sermon Follow-up: Noah's Ark Replica

As I mentioned in last week’s sermon – a few years ago a creationist in the Netherlands built a half-scale model of Noah’s ark according to the specifications given in Genesis.

Well, now this same guy has built a full-scale replica of the ark, complete with an aviary on board for birds, and has requested permission to take his ark across the English Channel and down the Thames river into London to show it off during the Olympics this year.

Here’s an article about it: http://www.wired.com/playbook/2011/06/noahs-ark-replica-olympics/

Sermon Follow-up 5/27/12

Nick spoke on The Curse and the Covering from Gen 3:14-24. The coverings are the “fig leaves” we put on ourselves to hide the places where we fall short and have lost our heart. Jesus came to restore us and save ALL that was lost! Nick quoted from Ezekiel 36:26-28, where it says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.”
I was struck by a couple of things in this message. First, our salvation & restoration is completely a work of Christ. There’s nothing we can do to earn it or deserve it. No hiding or posing is sufficient to hide the truth of how lost we really are…ouside of Christ, that is. In him, though, we are the new Children of God. What a gracious gift, what a great heritage! Second, the parable from Matthew 22:1-14 underscores how important it is for us to clothe ourselves now in the life of Christ. In order to prepare for the wedding feast of eternity before us, we must dedicate ourselves to life in Christ now! Not depending upon our own skills or achievements, but laying down our lives now for the life of Christ we can take up instead. It’s a pivotal and critical difference of how we live our lives now, in response to the gift we’ve been given!
