73rd Annual National Day of Prayer

It was on February 3, 1952, as war raged in Korea, that the Rev. Billy Graham stood on the steps of the Capitol Building and issued a challenge to the leaders of our country. He said, “What a thrilling, glorious thing it would be to see the leaders of our country today kneeling before Almighty God in prayer. What a thrill would sweep this country. What renewed hope and courage would grip the Americans at this hour of peril." Taking up this challenge, member of congress introduced a joint resolution for an annual National Day of Prayer and on April 17, 1952, President Truman signed the bill. And so, for the past 73 years Americans have gathered together on this day to pray for our nation.

Today, hundreds of thousands of Christians all across America, will come together to lift up our nation in prayer and call out to the Most High God to pour out his love, grace, mercy, and blessings upon us. We, as Christ’s church, must bend our knee and cry out to God to unite and heal our nation. To pray for a great revival and awakening among our people. There's an undeniable power when God's people gather in his name, seeking his guidance, protection, and blessings.

Let us here at White Fields Community Church be on our knees before the Lord today praying that the good news of the Gospel will go forth into our community and our country. Gather with friends and family and pray for unity and peace in our nation. Pray for our elected leaders whether we voted for them or not. Pray that our nation will turn to Jesus and allow him to rule over our lives. And pray that God’s will be done in our nation as it is in heaven.

May this day be a source of blessing and inspiration for you as we come together in faith, hope, and unity.
